Tutor.com Awarded Prestigious Tutoring Design Program Badge by Stanford University's National Student Support Accelerator
High-Dosage Tutoring Program Recognized for Alignment with Tutoring Quality Standards
NEW YORK, April 30, 2025 /— Tutor.com one of the world's largest and most innovative online tutoring companies, announced today that its High-Dosage Tutoring program has been awarded the prestigious Tutoring Program Design Badge from Stanford University's National Student Support Accelerator (NSSA).
The Badge was awarded following an extensive evaluation by a third-party team of education leaders, who assessed the alignment of Tutor.com's High-Dosage Tutoring Program with rigorous Tutoring Quality Standards. The Badge is intended to serve as a first filter to states and K–12 districts to indicate that the program has high-quality, research-aligned program design.
“We are honored to be recognized with the NSSA Tutoring Design Program Badge,” said John Calvello, Chief Institutional Officer at Tutor.com and The Princeton Review. “We place the student at the center of all we do. To that end, we designed a research-backed program to help students achieve and exceed grade-level proficiency—and we are thrilled about the results. It's clear that our High-Dosage Tutoring is having a significant positive impact on accelerating student learning and closing achievement gaps.”
In the final report, evaluators praised Tutor.com's “robust formative assessment process” and data analysis as strengths, and further commended the program design's emphasis on instructional quality: “Experienced tutors work closely with students to provide a safe, positive learning environment that is culturally responsive, addresses learning gaps, and fosters a growth mindset.”
The company's High-Dosage Tutoring has been recognized with numerous awards—including Excellence in Equity New Product of the Year, EdTech Chronicle Best in Education “Bestie” K–12 Product Launch, Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence and Best of 2024 Award, THE Journal New Product of the Year, Best of STEM Award, and American Consortium for Equity in Education Industry Impact Award. Featuring curriculum-rich content and ongoing assessments, the program is designed to encourage active student participation. One teacher observed: “I have never seen my students so engaged with a virtual learning tool.”
Available in Math and English Language Arts for grades 3 through 8 as well as Algebra I, High-Dosage Tutoring was purpose-built to help students make critical learning gains in key subject areas. “Equipping students to succeed at grade level—and beyond—is why we do what we do,” said Calvello. “As we continue to expand High-Dosage Tutoring, we will always prioritize student engagement, achievement, and success.”
